An expert in real estate, Yinka Bolatito Ojo, has lamented the 1978 land use decree, describing it as an impediment to structural development.
Speaking at the Kwara Business Awards 2024 organised by the state’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), Ojo, at the weekend, told journalists that the country has come of age and “far beyond such a retrogressive law.”
According to the winner of The Real Estate Company of the Year, “the best the present government can do to improve and further develop as well as encourage the real estate sector and its actors is to review the obnoxious 1978 Land Use decree.”
The elated Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Quick Access Macro and Micro Limited regretted that the terrain of operations is too tough for actors in the sector, urging the government and others in authority to ensure the review of the law he described as outdated and draconian.

He commended the leadership of the Director-General (D-G) of KWACCIMA, Prince Ayo Fagbemi, for having taken the chamber to an enviable height, recalling that the weekend event was the first since 2009 it was last held.
The Vice President of Industry KWACCIMA, Alhaji Yinka Yahaya, had earlier explained that the chamber was poised to ensure that the business environment is conducive for operation.
