Popular Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh recently took to Instagram to share a message expressing her admiration and respect for the Muslim community. The post, which has gathered the attention of the public reads:
“I wake up to the best sound every day for the past 4 years… It’s a sound of love and dedication. The sound of God’s beauty and love…If I wanted to donate to a mosque what do I give aside from money? God bless every Muslim and more especially every Muslim I hear your prayers. May Allah answer you…..”
Tonto Dikeh’s message hints at a possible personal connection she has developed with the Muslim community. Possibly due to her environment. Living in a multi-religious country like Nigeria, where the call to prayer from mosques is a common sound, it is likely that Dikeh has been moved by the daily prayers of the Muslim community.
Her acknowledgment of this “sound of love and dedication” from the Muslims suggests an appreciation for the spiritual practices of her Muslim neighbours.
