The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) has set August 7 and 8, 2024 as dates for the third edition of Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA). The event is scheduled to hold at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
NEMCEA bring together stakeholders in the media industry within and outside Nigeria to buy, sell, collaborate, aggregate and exchange ideas.
Speaking at a briefing to announce the event, which has held since it was introduce in 2022, President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin, said NEMCEA has come to stay as Nigeria’s number one market place for the discovery and exchange of TV, radio and electronic media content.
According to him, NEMCEA will help put Lagos, the host city, where the government wants it to be at par with the other great film festival cities of the world, where people at home and abroad can come to find expertise and resources for electronic media content.
“We can’t but speak to the emerging technologies as it is expected to impact on content production and the creative economy of the country.
“Let me also state here that we have outlined and resourced the best of best from within and outside the industry in terms of resource persons/facilitators that will be doing justice to the central theme and other several themes.
“The creative economy is a constantly evolving landscape, and emerging technologies are playing an increasingly important role in shaping how content is produced distributed, consumed and ultimately shared today,” he said.
Also speaking while unveiling programmes for the 2024 NEMCEA, the Project Director of EMCOAN, Mr. Chinedu Ugwu, in his address, said the event is not only a strategic media content issue, but also to bring to fore perspectives bordering on the media industry in Nigeria, in particular, and across Africa, as a whole. He said the two-day event remains the biggest for the electronic media content and film industry in Nigeria.
“NEMCEA has three major components which include the Conference, where we have an array of seasoned industry professionals as speakers as well as panel discussants; Content/Exhibitions, which affords content aggregators and producers the opportunity to interact, network and trade.
Television stations and online channels also have the opportunity of meeting face to face with content owners to do business.
“Also, the Awards, this is an evening for relaxation and fun during which contents that have entered various categories of awards are rewarded.”
He used the opportunity to call for entries for television, radio and online content that are produced, broadcast or publicly exhibited till April 30th, 2024 from interested persons to log on to www,nemcea.com/awards to fill the submission forms, adding that the call for entries for the 2024 Awards is still open till July 15, 2024.
The Project Director also called on content producers who are yet to register for the event to visit www.nemcea.net to register to participate.
