Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has canvassed the re-evaluation of the current 6-3-3-4 system, and adoption of the IB Diploma programme.
Chidoka, who was the guest speaker at Greensprings School graduation ceremony for its IB Diploma students, said the programme encourages independent thinking and prepares learners for success in top universities.
He highlighted the IB Diploma curriculum’s strengths in fostering critical thinking, global awareness, and comprehensive education.
“The IB Diploma programme is widely acclaimed as the gold standard of education worldwide, encouraging students to be independent thinkers. Top universities around the world seek out IB Diploma graduates for the high level of college preparedness that the programme instils in its students,” Chidoka stated.
He emphasised the importance of creating an environment where students can develop their potentials and meaningfully contribute to natiobal development.
Chidoka advised the graduating students to be wise, diligent, and fear God. While enjoining them to uphold these values, the former minister noted that good character is fundamental towards achieving sustainable success in their academic and professional journeys.
The school subsequently honoured the graduating students, who had secured multiple scholarships from universities in Europe and North America.
A total of 36 graduates were awarded over $12 million in scholarships, affirming the programme’s impact in preparing students for higher education and beyond.
