Church Of God Mission ends convention, empowers women

The Lagos headquarters of the Church of God Mission, international, celebrated the 50th anniversary of Bishopric Convention. The three-day event, which held in Mafoluku, Lagos gathered women from all walks of life, including the various provinces of the church.

President of the Christian Women international (CWI), Lagos Bishopric Convention, Rev’dHelen Fianu, disclosed that CWI was the brain child of Most Rev’d Margaret Benson-ldahosa and was established in I974 to empower women and also to make them understand their calling and develop their potentials.

With theme, “The Supernatural Woman,” the event served as avenue for the over 400 participants that attended to network and celebrate Jesus Christ.

Assessing CWI since its establishment, Fianu, said, CWI has outreaches in 30 states in Nigeria and outside the country. She said: “The group encourages women to explore their God-given potential, enhance leadership skills, uphold the dignity of womanhood and as well as hold seminars, conferences and teach skill acquisition.”

Special guests spoke on the importance of women’s leadership and empowerment in the society. The event also featured wealth and success, live performances, street evangelism and rally, while grinding machines, clothes, food and other items were given to the women.
