The Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA, District 9110, has commissioned a Care Givers Quarter where relatives of patients in the hospital can relax and take care of themselves.
Speaking at the commissioning of the facility, the club’s Hope President, Rotarian Adeyemi Adesina, said the 36-bed apartment was donated to the hospital free, though it cost about N65m to construct and furnish.
His words: “It was a journey full of turbulence but here we are today. We did the turning of sod on February 29, 2024. So, I want to say a big thank you to the club and all our partners for the support.
“This facility is meant for people providing support for their loved ones within the hospital. Nigerians were sleeping on the floor and in cars because they have patients here. So, we thought it was a need we should meet.”
District Governor, District 9110, Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, while commissioning the project, said it was a way of giving back to the society and doing good.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, expressed great delight at the delivery of the project, adding that it has given LASUTH a bragging right.
He added: “At the beginning, we were skeptical. We didn’t know that the promise would be fulfilled in record time. But they have actually made us very proud. We thank the Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA for this.”
