The Diocese of Lagos West Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has elected new Diocesan Guild of Stewards to steer the affairs of the church for another two years.
At the fourth service to mark the investiture/inauguration and dedication of new officers held last Sunday at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC), GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, the Diocesan Bishop Rt. Reverend James Odedeji, while speaking on the theme, “Faithful Service,” admonished the newly elected officers to be faithful and trust worthy, adding that every thing about the guild of stewards is service.
The Bishop, who took his text from 1 Corinth 4:1,2 said, “when it comes to serving God, one thing that is very important and you cannot take away is faithfulness, because service in the house of God is not everybody’s right. God can afford to do without anybody. Everything in the house of God is service and it has to be seen as a privilege and not right. This is because God can do hiswork without us. We are the ones that cannot do without God.”
The newly elected officers are: Brother Adewale Olalekan Bolaji (president), Sister Folashade Oderinde (1st Vice president), Sister Victoria Mojisola Mabawonku (2nd vice president), Sister OlamideFunmilayoAmoo-Adams (General Secretary), Brother John OlapadeElugoke (Deputy General Secretary), Brother Jide Salami (financial secretary), Brother Joel Omodon (treasurer), Sister OludayoIge (social secretary), Sister Titilayo Comfort Adebiyi, (Deputy social secretary), among others.
Speaking with The Guardian, the president, Brother Bolaji, who described his election as a privilege said, he appreciate the entire members of Guild of Stewards and the church for the trust, confidence, they have in him and for unanimously electing as their ninth president, promising he will not let them down.
