Trinity varsity celebrates fifth anniversary

Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, assuring parents and students of improved learning experience in the forthcoming years.

Speaking during the anniversary thanksgiving, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Clement Kolawole, said from starting with a handful of staff and students, the institution now has over 1,000 students, and runs 18 academic programmes.

He said: “It sounds like an incredible journey of growth and progress for the university. Graduating two sets of students, and now on the brink of sending out our first nursing graduates must feel like a significant milestone. The dedication and hard work of all involved, along with a bit of divine intervention perhaps, seem to have paved the way for this success.”

Also speaking, a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr Olufemi Oyinsan, promised that the institution would experience more transformation before next year.

“I can confidently say that within the next year, we will witness a profound transformation in our ecosystem. We are implementing entrepreneurship skills acquisition programmes with unwavering determination, focusing particularly on areas such as mechatronics, fashion, printing, branding, and hospitality.”

Oyinkan said these programmes would operate alongside existing degree offerings, ensuring that students graduate not only with academic qualifications, but also with valuable vocational certificates.

“Our vision is clear: every Trinity graduate should possess dual competencies—their degree and a recognised certificate in a vocational field—ensuring immediate employability upon graduation. Our goal is to mitigate the issue of unemployment by equipping our students with practical skills that meet industry demands,” Oyinkan added.
