Alh. (Dr.) U. A Muttalab, is currently the Chairman of the first non interest ban in Nigeria in addition to being the Chairman of so many other blue-chip companies in Nigeria and abroad. A banker and qualified Certified Chartered Accountant with experience in development, banking, commercial and merchant banking spanning over 30 years. He was the immediate past Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. the oldest and largest bank in Nigeria from 1996 – 2009.
He is a graduate of the South West London College and was admitted as an Associate and later as a Fellow of the Institute of Chattered and Certified Accountants of Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Alh. Mutallab is a former Nigerian Federal Minister of Economic Development and later Ministry of Cooperatives and Supplies. He was also a member of the Nigeria Federal Executive Council from 1975 – 78. He left the services of the Federal Government of Nigeria to serve as Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) from 1978 – 1988.
He is an outstanding philanthropist being a member of several prominent charity organizations in Nigeria and abroad:
Gidauniyar Jihar katsina – one of the Nigeria State Foundation and also an organization with both national and international reach.
Member of the Clinton Global Initiative, which later transformed into the Clinton Foundation since it was set up about 10 years ago.
The President of the Nigeria Arab Association since it was setup 15 years ago.
Patron of the Nigeria / Egypt Business Council since 2008.
Bid Ambassador of Abuja 2014 Commonwealth Games in 2007.
An accomplishes technocrat, astute administrator, Alh. Mutallab is a recipient of the Nigeria National Honor of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), one of the highest honors in the country. He is also a recipient of the professional honorary Fellow of Institute of International Bankers Association of the United State (F.I.B.A). The Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria awarded the Chancellor of Benue State University, one of the states in Nigeria, where he was also awarded a Honorary Doctorate Degree by the university in 2010. He was also awarded Honorary Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in 2007.
Alh. Mutallab is also a recipient of the Italian Commander of the Order of Merit. He has been serving as a Honorary International Investors Council set up by the President of Nigeria since 2008. He chairs the Business Support Group (BSG) arm of the Vision 20: 2020 which is one of the cornerstones of the economic policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
