Nigerian musician Patoranking is now the first United Nations Development Programme goodwill ambassador, having been inaugurated and given a plaque of recognition by the UNDP.
Posting on his ‘X’ page, the singer said: ‘I step into the role of UNDP Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Africa to champion youth, innovation, enterprise, and the SDGs. I get to lend my voice to important initiatives such as @timbuktooAfrica and a privileged opportunity to collaborate with young Africans to find solutions that will bring positive change and progress for our continent. Thanks to everyone, my team and @UNDPAfrica’
The appointment is originally effective for an initial two-year term, it also celebrates Patoranking’s dedication to empowering African youth and fostering innovation and enterprise development across the continent.

Being the regional ambassador, the singer is expected to spearhead initiatives aimed at bolstering Africa’s innovation ecosystem, advocating for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and supporting the Timbuktoo initiative. Leveraging his influential platform, he aims to inspire and mobilise young Africans to actively address these critical global challenges.
Recall that recently, he built a mini stadium at Ebute-Metta where he was born and raised, of which he termed as giving back to the society. While expressing his love for the community, Patoranking stated that he decided to give back to the place that shaped his early years.
“God blessed me and I blessed my people, I built this from a place of love to unite my community Ebute Metta. First of Many. World Best”
He also appreciates the trust the UNDP has in him, while also saying he would continue from where he has stopped in the things he has done, especially Africa.
“I am deeply committed to empowering African youth by equipping them with the tools, resources, and opportunities essential for their success, in embracing this role, I aim to amplify crucial initiatives that hold transformative potential for our continent, driven by the innovation and determination of Africa’s vibrant youth.” He concluded.
